Minister Amelia Kyambadde’s Husband Jailed over Shs 1.2 Billion Debt

Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Minister Amelia Kyambadde’s husband has been jailed for six months for failing to pay a Shs 1.2bn debt.

Wilson Kyambadde was on Monday arrested by court bailiffs as he boarded to attend a funeral.

, husband to Amelia Kyambadde, has been committed to civil prison for six months after failing to pay a Sh1.1 billion debt. Amelia is Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Minister.

Flavia Nassuna Matovu, Deputy registrar in-charge of execution matters at the High Court, ruled that Kyambadde had failed to pay the money and instead attempted to frustrate the judgement to pay by filing several applications of stay the case in court.

The minister’s husband, who unsusccessfully contested in the 2011 Kampala Mayoral Poll, was convicted of conning Amdan Khan of the money.

He had promised to sell Amdan a building on Kampala’s Nasser Road – but he did not.
