The two leading candidates in the Kenyan presidential election have cast their ballots in the race that has been described by pollsters as tight.

Jubilee Party and incumbent president Uhuru Kenyatta cast his vote at Mutomo Primary School in Gatundu South.

Kenyatta was accompanied by his wife Margaret, who reportedly lined up for four hours

Kenyatta’s deputy William Ruto cast his vote at Kosachei Primary School polling station in Turbo Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer Raila Odinga cast his vote at Olympic Primary School.

Odinga votes

Odinga was accompanied by his wife Ida.

Voting started as early as 6am and will end at 5pm.
