Politicians cast ballots, Speak on IEBC’s Handling of Election So Far

Several politicians have voted for their choice leaders and given their remarks on the KIEMS and their positions on the election.

Kakamega governor aspirant Boni Khalwale has voted but complained that the process was slow.

The Senator and Ford Kenya candidate cast his ballot at Malinya Primary school in Ikolomani constituency during the exercise on Tuesday.

He accused Jubilee Party of using the Inua Jammi cash transfer programme for the elderly and the NYS initiative to remove NASA supporters from their voting areas.

Opposition leaders have sworn to protect NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s votes in his contest with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka against President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto.

NASA principal Musalia Mudavadi claimed KIEMS kits will be shut down systematically today but IEBC has assured they are working.

After it was reported that the kits in Kisumu had failed, the electoral agency said the system is operational and that they have extra ones should any fai.

Other leaders who have voted are Governor Kenneth Lusaka (Kakamega), Simon Kachapin (West Pokot), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia) and Joseph Ndathi (Kirinyaga).

Meru Governor Peter Munya voted at Ncuui Primary School in Tigania East and Senator Kiraitu Murungi at Irimbene Primary schoo in South Imenti.

Munya said he is sure he will win and commended the IEBC noting it is easier to vote.

“The system is quite efficient and the clerks are well-trained,” the PNU candidate told the press after the process.

Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto (Chama Cha Mashinani), Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Kabete’s Ferdinand Waititu have also voted.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa cast his vote at Giampampo Primary School in Maara constituency and Muthomi Njuki in Rubate, Chuka Igambangombe, where he is MP.

In Nakuru, governor aspirant Lee Kinyanjui’s running mate Erick Korir voted at Saptet polling station at about 7.30am.

Korir, who went to the polling station accompanied by his wife Beatrice, said the arrangement is impressive.

“I thank the IEBC for conducting a free and fair process. Everything is going on well and we hope for the best,” he said.

He also thanked the security team for being steadfast and having presence everywhere.
