Ruhama County Member of Parliament, William Zinkuratire Beijukye is dead, The Tower Post has learnt.
According to Parliament’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs Chris Obore, Zinkuratire passed away on Friday night at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted.
The MP was serving his first term in Parliament, taking over from First Lady Janet Museveni who had announced in 2016 that she would not contest for the seat again.
Zinkuratire, according to a close family member, developed complications after being sworn in as MP in May 2016. He is believed to have been poisoned.
“He was flown to India over four times for treatment until doctors told him to go home and rest and wait for his death,” said the family member who preferred anonymity in order to speak freely.
The Late becomes the 4th MP to die in the 10th Parliament after Iganga Woman Mp Kaudha Hailat, Toroma County MP Cyrus Amodoi and Hon Anne Logiel, who was Moroto Woman MP.
