MTN Marathon Physical Registration, Kit Collection Kicks Off

Participants who want to take part in the 14th edition of the MTN Kampala Marathon can now do physical registration at several MTN Service Centers and Stanbic Bank branches.

This comes as they prepare to participate in the 19th November 2017, MTN Kampala Marathon.

“Preparations for the 14th edition of the annual MTN Kampala Marathon are in high gear! With two weeks left to Kampala’s biggest charity fun run, MTN now invites you to register and collect your race kits. As of today, we are now accepting cash payments of Ugx 25,000/= to enable you to run to represent your cau se at the MTN Kampala Marathon,” said Valery Oketcho, Corporate Communications Manager at MTN Uganda.

The physical registration is available for those who are not able to use MTN Mobile Money to register, select their cause and make their contribution. Mobile money registration is still ongoing by dialing *165*1*5# and following the prompts.

With the start of physical registration, kits are also available for pick up.

“Payments, registration, and collection of kits are now possible at MTN Service Centres at Lugogo, Forest Mall, Kampala Road, Kyaggwe road, Victoria Mall in Entebbe and   at Stanbic Bank William Street,” explains Oketcho.

This year, the MTN Kampala Marathon is different with people being able to participate and represent a cause of their cause. Over the last 13 editions, nearly Ugx3bn has been contributed to several causes. All money contributed by participants goes to the causes.

“Previously MTN Uganda dictated the charitable causes that we should run to support in the Kampala Marathon. This year, we decided to allow you to make your personal choice of the cause that appeals to you. This year when you run in the Kampala Marathon, you’ll run to either improve maternal health facilities at Kiswa and Komamboga Health Centres or to Reduce exposure of our school going children to harmful cancer causing agents which are present in asbestos roofing materials in over 20 Kampala schools. We intend to replace the harmful asbestos roofing with over 20,000 roofing sheets. As you register for the marathon this year, represent your cause! Dictate which cause your contribution should be paid to at the registration point,” Oketcho said.

The registration can be for the 42kms, 21kms, 10kms, and 5kms. The 5kms is a new introduction to the marathon, as it caters for families and short distance runners.
