NRM’s Todwong Challenges Museveni to Crack Whip on Officials who Steal Tax Payers’ Money to Build Mansions

Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party  deputy secretary general Richard Todwong has challenged President Yoweri Museveni to crack the whip on officials who steal government funds to build posh houses.

Todwong was speaking in Entebbe during a meeting to assess the progress of a national dialogue initiative.

Todwong: Where are they Getting the Money?

A concerned Todwong noted that “the hills of Kampala are expanding with buildings, but schools, health centres are shrinking”.

He then wondered: “So, where do these people get this money from?”

Todwong noted that “the owners of these structures we see around” are “commissioners, directors, ministers, permanent secretaries”.

He told Museveni that he had better deal with the trinity of impunity: corruption, nepotism and greed.

“Corruption, greed and nepotism are things that are making Ugandans more disgusted in the leadership of our party in government,” said Todwong.

“I have to be honest because my church told me to be honest. I have told this to the president. “If we don’t control our greed and how we use public resources, then Ugandans will push us out of power.”
