9 Charged, Remanded to Luzira Over Suzan Magara Murder

Buganda Road grade one magistrate Charles Yeteise on Friday charged and remanded nine people to Luzira prison over the kidnap and murder of Suzan Magara.

Magara, 28, was kidnapped on her way home in Lungujja, Lubaga Division in February this year.

The deceased worked as an administrator at a family business owned by her dad John Magara.

Her body was later discovered by police dumped 100 metres from the Kampala- Entebbe Express highway at Kitiko which is between Kigo and Kajjansi in Wakiso district.

The remanded are Hussein Wasswa 22, Muzamiru Ssali 27, Patrick Kasaija 36, Yusuf Lubega 32, Hajara Nakandi 35, Abubaker Kyewolwa 30, Mahad Kasalita, Hassan Kato Miiro, 22, and Ismail Bukenya.

Prosecution alleges that the 9 and others still at large, on February 7, 2018 kidnapped Ms Magara with intent to procure a ransom or benefit for her liberation from the danger of being murdered before killing her on February 27.

The magistrate did not allow the suspects to take a plea because the charges are capital in nature and can only be tried by the High Court.

They were remanded to Luzira prison until June 1st when they will be presented in court again for mentioning of their case.
