Mother to socialite Ivan Semwanga’s children Zari Hassan and her fallen husband’s relatives have today met at the deceased’s requiem mass at Namirembe Cathedral where they struck reconciliatory tones.
Hours after Semwanga’s death, his family members led by his uncle Herbert Luyinda had scoffed at Zari for abandoning their son, causing him depression which they said eventually finished him off.
Luyinda had also told reporters that the family doubted whether Zari’s children actually belonged to Semwanga, and that the socialite, now married to Tanzanian singer Diamond Platinumz, would not inherit Semwanga’s property.
But an apologetic Luyinda apologised to Zari.
“I apologise for any mistakes that I made. Let us stay together,” said Luyinda.
Zari’s brother had earlier preached family unity before warning his sister: “Zari, I warn you not to be forced into signing anything you don’t want.”
Semwanga will be laid to rest on Tuesday in Kayunga.
