Details of the cause of death of a Makerere University student who died on Tuesday after sitting an exam have emerged.
Joanita Nakalembe was Thursday buried in Kalungu district in an emotional send-off that saw her friends drown in tears while others, grief-stricken, fainted.
But a post-mortem report has revealed that Nakalembe had been poisoned.
“Finding consistent with poisoning,” wrote a pathologist on the cause of Nakalembe’s death.
Nakalemba, an Education Student and resident at Garden Courts Hostel-Kikoni, is said to have complained about feeling unwell after sitting a Psychology exam on Tuesday (June 06) before she started vomiting and bleeding from the mouth.
Nakalemba was then rushed to Makerere University Hospital but her condition worsened and arrangements were made to transfer her to Mulago Hospital.
It is while on the way to Mulago that she collapsed and breathed her last.
