President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday (June 21st) received and held a meeting with the Chairman of the United Arab Emirates-based CMA Investment Holding, Mr. Rakesh Wahi who called on him at State House, Nakasero.
The Holding specializes in a range of activities that include CNBC Africa Television network and Murdoch University. It also has a proposal to establish a new university in Uganda.
President Museveni warmly welcomed him to Uganda and assured him that he will be assisted to carry out activities that are geared towards helping the people of Uganda acquire knowledge through education.
“It is good that you are importing teaching service into Uganda. We shall provide you with the land. It is appropriate to have the courses that are currently done abroad conducted within Uganda,” he said.
Mr. Rakesh Wahi presented a proposal to the President to establish a university in Uganda. He requested Mr. Museveni to assist the Holding in its efforts to acquire a piece of land that is between 30 to 40 acres.
He revealed that the Holdings operates the CNBC Africa, a television network and expressed interest in launching its services within Uganda. He said that their interest is the promotion of business news.
