Airtel Uganda has today announced a new partnership with one of the largest kingdoms in the EasternUganda – the Bugwere Kingdom.
This announcement was made at the company’s headquarters at Clement hill in Kampala where the partnership agreement wasannounced by Airtel Managing Director Mr. Anwar Soussa and Prime Minister of Bugwere Kingdom Mr. Eric Kasolo respectively.
The partnership will see Airtel Uganda contribute UGX 25,000,000 towards the 3rd Bugwere Kingdom coronation anniversary events slated for 6th to 8th July at Kadama Primary School in Kibuku district.
Themed “Empowering future mothers by maintaining the girl child in school for sustainable development”, the event that aims to consolidate unity among the Bugwere people is in line with one of Airtel Uganda’s major CSR pillars – Education.
Commenting about the partnership, Mr. Anwar Soussa applauded the Bugwere King as well as the entire kingdom for recognizing the value girl child education has and encouraging the subjects to ensure their daughters and sisters get an opportunity to receive a decent education.
“Airtel has always valued equal access to education and we have gone ahead to ensure that we create the right environment for this to happen. Through our community initiative, Adopt-A-School, we have provided classrooms, books, uniforms and even rewards and incentives for excellent students to ensure that both female and male children get access to quality education,” Soussa commented.
He further pledged to continue supporting individuals and institutions in Uganda who are working tirelessly to create a positive impact on communities in which they live and work as well as in Uganda at large.
