Africa’s biggest fashion awards the Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards (ASFAs) 2017 edition were officially launched on Thursday night (June 20th) at The Kampala Serena Hotel.
Cîroc are the sponsors of the fashion celebration marking its fifth edition this year.
The Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, December, 8, 2017 at the Kampala Serena Hotel, under the theme ‘The Fashion Takeover’.
According to the franchise CEO Brian Ahumuza, the theme was chosen to highlight the need to celebrate individuals who are excelling in the fashion industry in Uganda and turning it into a profession rather than sticking to the glitz and glam element alone.
The ASFAs, known over the years for glamour and show-stopping performances return with the objective of recognizing and awarding outstanding personalities in the fashion industry in Uganda and the whole of Africa.
“Cîroc is known world over for being the art of celebration, and we are more than delighted to be a part of this fashion and style celebration at the fifth edition of the ASFAs. Guests should expect nothing short of the luxury and oomph that is synonymous with all Cîroc-infused events,” Roger Agamba, Reserve and IPS Manager, said.
The event organisers are pulling out all the stops this year, including partnering with South African fashion designer, David Tlale, who will be taking over as the production director of the show.
Alongside the already existing categories, the franchise returns with two new categories:Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year for Uganda and Africa thatwill go to an individual who has shown outstanding commercial success with their business or personal brand.
“Every year, we try to make the ASFAS bigger and better. In preparation for this edition, we promise to look back at the past, learn frompast errors and shortcomings so as to give you something bigger and better this year. In terms of production, expect nothing short of a world class show. The ASFAs 2017 will be awarding individuals excelling in fashion, in Uganda and across Africa,” Brian Ahumuza said.
The launch was attended by several top Ugandan media personalities, models, musicians and socialites among others.
