Josephine Joyce Lalam on Saturday (July 22nd) won Uganda a Gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth games in Nassau, Bahamas.
The athlete, who represented Uganda in Javelin emerged winner with a distance of 51.89 meters. Autralia’s Bowyer Ellie Frances came second with a throw of 50.64 meters taking silver while Howe Emma of England won bronze medal with a throw of 47.04 meters.
Out of Uganda’s 3 participants, Lalam was the only one that won a medal in the Commonwealth Youth games.
Sarah Chelangat finished 4th in the 3000m race and 10th in the 1500 race while Swimmer Atuhaire Ogola Ambala did not go past the preliminaries in the categories of 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke and 400m individual medley that he competed in.
