Miria Matembe to Sue Ofwono Opondo for Claiming Her Husband Slept with House Girl

A legal battle between former Ethics and Integrity Minister Miria Koburunga Matembe and government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo is looming following the duo’s clash on a Thursday night show.

It all started when Matembe claimed that Opondo had fraudulently obtained cows from poverty alleviation program Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), an allegation that rubbed the government spokesperson the wrong way.

“I saw on TV the other day that Ofwono allocated himself Operation Wealth Creation cows,” Matembe said on Nbs TV Frontline talk show.

Opondo would later shoot back: “You suffered similar things; people used to tell you that your husband slept with the house-girl. I hope it’s not true.”

The statement irked Matembe and she openly tasked Opondo to withdraw the claim. But Opondo was defiant.

“I’m going to court, don’t joke. You must withdraw that statement right now! I’m going to court,” Matembe threatened.

Matembe is married to Nekemia Matembe. The allegations of her husband’s infidelity first appeared in Teddy Cheeye’s Uganda Confidential.

Democratic Party (DP) president general Norbert Mao moved to “sanitise” the spoilt air space:
“However much you disagree with somebody, going personal is not good. I accepted to be part of NBS Frontline because I wanted Ugandans to be informed. There should be hygiene on this show.”
