Senior Presidential Advisor on Media John Nagenda has continued to give his views on the succession of three-decade president Yoweri Museveni.
In an interview last week, Nagenda surprised many when he said the upper presidential age limit that bars anyone above 75 years to contest for president should not be scrapped to allow Museveni rule beyond his current term in 2021.
Born in 1944, Museveni will be ineligible for reelection in 2021 unless article 102b of the country’s constitution is removed.
Nagenda has told NBS TV Monday morning that the first family members should not succeed Museveni.
“I wouldn’t want members of the first family to succeed President Museveni,” he said, without mincing words.
There has been a rumour denied by the first family that Museveni was grooming first son Muhoozi Kainerugaba to succeed him.
Nagenda said he would never support a Muhoozi presidency.
“Museveni said ‘Muhoozi has never run for LC One Chairman, how can I support him as president?’” Nagenda asked.
“What has Muhoozi done politically to be president?”
