President Yoweri Museveni has directed that fallen UPC stalwart, Edward Rurangaranga be accorded an official burial for the contribution he made to the country.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda at a meeting he convened at the Office of the Prime Minister on Wednesday 2 August 2017 to plan for the burial of the former Chairman of the UPC, legislator, minister and local leader.
Rurangaranga, 85, passed on Monday night, at his home in Kitagata, Sheema District.
The meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister was attended by members of Rurangaranga’s family led by the widow, Winifred Rurangaranga and children, the leadership of UPC led by Party President Jimmy Akena, and Government representatives, including tourism minister Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa, Public Service Minister, Muruli Mukasa and Finance Minister Matia Kasaija.
UPC stalwart and economist, Yona Kanyomozi also attended the meeting as well as Parliamentary Commissioner and MP, Cecilia Ogwal.
