Details have emerged on the rape case of senior police Intelligence Officer Gilbert Arinaitwe Bwana’s rape case.
Arinaitwe, who shot to notoriety in 2011 when he smashed opposition kingpin Dr Kizza Besigye’s car and pepper sprayed him, was arrested last week for raping an 18-year old.
Police sources say that a medical examination conducted on the 18-year-old has confirmed penetrative rape.
The rape victim appeared on Monday before the Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli together with her mother.
The duo recorded a statement pinning Arinaitwe.
According to Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye, Arinaitwe took advantage of the girl.
“This young girl needed help and it’s so unfortunate that someone took advantage of her. We are not hiding anything. We are going to investigate the matter to its conclusion,” Kasingye said.
Arinaitwe reportedly first met the girl at the Criminal Investigations Directorate headquarters in Kibuli.
The girl had been brought to Kibuli for counselling after her performance declined due to her involvement in multiple sexual affairs, according to her mother.
It was here that Arinaitwe and the girl exchanged phone contacts and started communicating.
Then Arinaitwe, who had reportedly turned into a pastor, lured the girl to an undisclosed location in Nakawa, a Kampala suburb, where the rape happened, just a week after the duo met.
