Kitante Golf Course was the set for an allure of class, excitement as lady golfers from across golfers teed off for this year’s Tusker Malt Uganda Open.
Playing host to golfers from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda, the course was set for yet another showdown of might in the Uganda Ladies Golf Open.
Teeing off at 8:30am on Thursday morning, 64 ladies played the par 72 course all through the day. At the end of day one, Tanzania’s Eaton Angel took the day’s lead with a score of 76.
She was closely followed by Kenya’s Nyakio Agnes, Iddy Madina from Tanzania and Uganda’s Babirye Martha all on 77.
Uganda’s star attraction Irene Nakalembe finished off on 78 to put her in position 5 followed by Komugisha Meron on 79 in position 6.
The ladies will continue day two of the Tusker Malt Uganda Open as they set to improve their scores and try to battle it out with fellow players.
Speaking before the tee off, Grace Namutebi, the Uganda Breweries Limited Brand Manager for Premium beers said; “The ladies are going to set the tempo for what is to come in this year’s Tusker Malt Uganda Open. We wish them luck and may the best golfer win.”
The Ladies Open tournament for the Tusker Malt Uganda Open is set to take place for the next three days as the players tussle it out for the ultimate bragging rights for country and club.
