Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has summoned Arua Municipality MP Abiriga Arua a day after he was pictured easing himself outside Ministry of Finance offices.
On Wednesday, court wrote to Abiriga summoning him to appear before the temple of justice for “committing a nuisance by easing in public contrary to section 27 of the Local Government [Kampala City Council] Maintenance of Law and Order Ordinance, 2006”.
Minutes after the photos of the MP peeing, guarded, went viral, Abiriga admitted he was pressed and could not wait to answer the call of nature.
He also argued that there was nothing wrong with urinating in public.
“I was simply urinating but I don’t know why you journalists are spreading the photos even on WhatsApp. I was urinating, what is wrong with that? I urinated because I was badly off. How can I keep urine on me? I was answering nature’s call,” Abiriga told NBS TV Tuesday.
But the court has ordered: “You are hereby commanded by the Uganda government to appear in this court on October 6, 2017 at 9 am.”
