First Ever Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards Launched

The inaugural Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards (PAFA) were on Wednesday launched at a press briefing held at Sky Beach Freedom City rooftop.

Debby Kagisha, the PAFA spokesperson noted that, unlike other fashion awards, these awards will mainly shine a spotlight on local fashion designers across the country.

“The Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards are about involving Ugandans and uplifting local talent in the fashion industry,” She stated.

Unlike other awards awards, each PAFA winner in their respective category will walk away with undisclosed sum of money accompanied with the accolade.

This year’s edition of the awards will have 28 main categories which include ‘Most Fashionable Campusers’, ‘Best Fashion Event Host’, ‘Best Use of Social Media’, ‘Best Graphics Designer’, ‘Best Fashion Photography Studio’ and more.

There are also special regional categories for ‘Best Fashionista’, ‘Best Stylist’ and ‘Best Fashion Designer’ in East, West, North and South regions.

Winners will be announced at an award gala slated for 2nd December at Sky Beach.

The award ceremony will be hosted by veteran media personality and events host Roger Mugisha.
