UCU Wins Reach A Hand Uganda’s Inter-University SRH Quiz Competition

Uganda Christian University emerged winners of the  first Inter-university Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Quiz competition held under the Voices for Health campaign at Makerere University Sports ground yesterday (March 20th, 2018) by Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU).

The competition tested the student’s knowledge in key reproductive health topics like gender equality, HIV, Gender Based Violence, Menstruation, Family planning, and sexuality.

Speaking at the competition, Miriam Tusiimire, Planned Parenthood Global Country Team Leader, Uganda, applauded the students knowledge in reproductive health issues to which, are important.

“Us having this competition in universities is another step in ensuring that we equip young people with knowledge and information on sexual reproductive health in a fun and interactive way.” She stated.

The competition attracted 10 universities (Kampala University, Busitema University, St, Lawrence University, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Makerere University Business School, Kampala International University, YMCA, and Ndejje University).

Uganda Christian University walked away with a cash prize of UGX 2,000,000, Ndejje University that came second, walked away with UGX 1,500,000 and the hosts Makerere University that emerged 3rd, bagged UGX 1,000,000.

“The aim of this quiz competition, was to equip sexual reproductive health information in an edutaining way. At the end of the day, we wanted all participants to go back to their universities with new knowledge on SRH.” Issa Buka, the Programs Manager at RAHU said.

To crown off the day, RAHU’s cultural icons (Navio, Naava Grey, Mun*G, Geosteady, Martha Smallz and Nutty Neithan) treated the students to an energetic performance of Baleke, the latest youth empowerment song by RAHU.
