As thousands of Ugandans rejoiced and celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, over 200 were arrested over crimes ranging from drunk driving, burglary, theft among others in Kampala.
This was revealed by Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Frank Mwesigwa on Monday morning.
Mwesigwa said that of the arrested, 100 were caught during police’s drunk driving (Kawunyemu) operations on different roads across the city.
“Other suspects were arrested for engaging in criminal activities such as burglary, theft and pickpocketing. We have these suspects in cells at our different stations and they will be arraigned in court on Tuesday,” said Mwesigwa.
