Former NSSF Boss Jamwa Released on Bail

Supreme Court judge Justice Stella Arachi Amoko has Thursday afternoon granted bail to former National Social Security fund (NSSF) Managing Director David Chandi Jamwa.

Through his lawyers from FK Mpanga and Company Advocates, Jamwa applied for bail on grounds that he appealedagainst both sentence and conviction before Supreme Court.

He also said that he was suffering from obesity and hypertension which require special attention that cannot be accessed while in Luzira.

While giving her ruling, Justice Arach said she was satisfied with Jamwa’s bail application.

He was consequently released on a Shs 10 million cash bail pending his appeal and asked to surrender his passport to the court registrar.

In January this year, the  Court of Appeal cancelled Jamwa’s bail and sent him back to Luzira Prison after 6 years, to serve his 12 year sentence that was given to him in 2011 by the Anti-Corruption court for causing NSSF a Shs 3.1 billion loss.
