Police has kicked off investigations into the death of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kato Francis, the  Officer Charge of  Kyebando Police Post.

ASP Kato was knocked dead by a speeding vehicle on Thursday morning.

According to Kira Road Division Police Commander, Michael Kasigyire, ASP Kato was knocked while on his way to work as he crossed the road.

The deceased was on the way from Kira Road Police Station where he had worked the previous night as a duty officer.

“Kira Road Police with deep sorrow announce the untimely death of ASP Kato, the OC Kyebando Police Post. The officer was knocked dead by an unidentified car while he was from duty at Kira Road where he worked as duty officer. He was returning to his duty beat at Kyebando and he met his death,” Michael Kasigyire’s message read.

The deceased’s body has been taken to the city mortuary at Mulago for a post-mortem.

information that this website has obtained indicates that ASP Kato Francis was born in 1985 and was a specialist in IT having graduated from Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

He joined the Police Force in 2014 and was 33 at the time of his death.

The police are currently working hand in hand with the family of the deceased to take care of burial arrangements.
