Former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira and a woman believed to be his wife Mariam Kirumira have Saturday even been gunned down at Bulenga.
The couple is said to have been returning home in their motor vehicle UAJ 228V when they were shot by unknown assailants.
Kirumira was rushed to hospital critical condition and later pronounced dead, while the woman died on spot at the scene of crime.
Kirumira in January this year announced that he had resigned to from Police.
He would later be arrested by Police Flying Squad officers and presented to the police tribunal which charged him with 6 counts including torture, extortion, corruption, bribery, unlawful arrests and excessive use of authority.
The Police tribunal acquitted him of charges including extortion, abuse of office, bribery and unlawful use of authority and found him guilty of four cases including parading a police Flying Squad operative to the media and declaring him a thief, unlawful arrest of people and excessive use of authority.
Kirumira had been at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was demoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP).
The couple leaves behind four children including a 7 months old baby.
