Bobi Wine Moves Kyarenga Concert to New Venue

Singer Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has announced a new venue and a new date for his Kyarenga concert, The Tower Post reports.

The concert which was slated to take place on Friday November 9th at Mandela National Stadium – Namboole has been moved to One Love Beach Busaabala and will happen on Saturday November 10th.

Earlier, Uganda Police and Namboole Stadium management had rejected Bobi Wine’s request to hold his concert on Saturday October 20 on grounds that the stadium was booked for a wedding.

Police chief IGP Martins Okoth Ochola, through the head of police operations Assuman Mugyenyi, had insisted Bobi Wine would not hold a concert at Namboole until the start of next year.

But they later agreed to allow him hold his concert on Friday November 9th, a date which was challenged by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) saying the stadium was scheduled to host a match a few days after the concert.

“As you are already aware, CAF already warned Uganda on the status of the stadium standard after a similar event was organized before Uganda Cranes played Ghana in October 2017. CAF is keenly observing the stadium conditions as a key competition factor,” FUFA’s letter to Nambole management read in part.

“Mandela National Stadium is under red flag by CAF and the Uganda Cranes match against Cape Verde may be put off by CAF which will hence forth result in Uganda failing to qualify for finals of AFCON Cameroon in 2019.”

By publication time, Bobi Wine was still holding a press conference where he made the announcement.
