Bobi Wine: Don’t Allow the Regime to Divide Us, It’s Not a Bobi-Bebe Affair

Opposition stalwart Robert Ssentongo Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has called upon the public to avoid being misled by what he called the regime’s “devide and rule” games which pit him against his fellow musician Bebe Cool.

“I have no problem with Bebe Cool. He is a fellow artiste, a man I have known for many years and above all a Ugandan. The problems we face in Uganda are bigger than us. The issues which Uganda faces cannot and should never be reduced to a Bobi – Bebe affair!” the Kyadondo East legislator said.

Bobi was commenting on the Friday evening incident where he shook hands with and hugged Bebe Cool during 10 Years of Eddy Kenzo concert which was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The two artistes who are believed be arch-rivals due to their political differences shared the same table during the concert.

Bebe Cool is a strong supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and its chairman Yoweri Museveni while Bobi is a strong critic of the same which made the public believe that the two are enemies who can’t see each other face to face.

But Bobi said the public is being made to believe the battle is between the two artistes while being driven away from the major issues that the country faces.

“Of course our oppressors have for long survived by playing the divide and rule game. They want to turn us against each other whenever they have chance. We have a choice – we can play into their game, or simply outsmart them and redeem ourselves. We cannot allow the regime to divide us.”

“If one of us got an accident on the road and we can’t find a hospital to give us emergency care, it won’t matter if it is me or Bebe! We should therefore not lose sight of who our real enemy is or what the real problem is.”

Several Ugandans on social media had made similar observations saying government was using Bebe vs Bobi talk to divert the public from issues that matter.

They further blamed the media for playing a role in pushing what has been described as minor.
