List: 50 Primary School Teachers Win National Teachers’ Prize

The education ministry has released a list of 50 primary school teachers to be awarded with the National Teachers’ Prize during the 2019 second National Primary Teachers’ Conference at the weekend.

The conference will happen at the London College of St Lawrence, Maya in Wakiso District from September 5-7, 2019.

At least 4,000 primary School Teachers and 170 district and municipality officials are expected to attend the event.

President Yoweri Museveni and first lady, also education minister, Janet Museveni, will grace the awards ceremony.

Junior education minister in charge of primary education, Rosemary Sseninde, told reporters at the Uganda Media Center on Monday that the 50 teachers had been selected for “their outstanding performance”.

Sseninde explained that five areas had been looked at in the process of picking the best teachers. These were: professionalism, teaching, learner development, school development and contribution to the community.

Each of these areas was awarded 20 marks.
