Mulyagonja, 14 Other Judges Appear Before Parliament for Vetting

15 judicial officers who were appointed by President Museveni as judges of Court of Appeal and High Court have on Friday appeared before the Parliamentary Committee for vetting. The committee is headed by the speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadagga.

The officers include Irene Mulyagonja, the head of the Inspectorate of Government (IGG). Muzamiru Kibeedi Mutangula, a lawyer and justice Monica Mugenyi Kalegira, the principal judge of the East African Court of Justice based in Tanzania who were appointed as justices of the Court of Appeal.

The following were appointed as judges of the High Court; Vincent Emmy Mugabo, the public relations officer for the Judiciary, Immaculate Busingye, Isaac Muwata, Jesse Byaruhanga Rugyema, Isah Serukuma and Susan Abinyo, all registrars.

Others are; Esta Nambayo, the Chief Registrar for the judiciary, Jane Okuo Kajuga, the spokesperson of the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Boniface Wamala, Philip Odoki Victoria Katamba Nakintu Nkwanga and Jeanne Rwakakoko.

Mulyagonja’s term as IGG expires next year. Upon her new appointment, she said she was happy to be relieved of her duties as IGG.
