IGG Summons Salaam Musumba On Corruption Allegations

FDC Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda has been summoned by the Inspectorate of Government over corruption allegations.

The allegations date back to when she was still Kamuli District Chairperson between 2012 to 2016.

Musumba is accused of using her position to lobby and acquire Shs 10Million from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), that was supposed to support the education sector in her district, but she allegedly diverted the money for personal gain.

In 2015, Musumba was asked to refund the 10 million through monthly salary cuts, and by the time her tenure as district Chairperson ended, only Shs 5, 263, 556 has been deducted.

The IGG ordered her to clear the balance but she has failed. Nothing has been deposited to that effect since 2016.

The money is supposed to be deposited to the Government Assets Recovery Account.

Deputy IGG Miriam Wangadya on Monday tsummoned Musumba to appear at the IGG offices to explain why she has not cleared the money.

“You are ordered to attend before the Inspectorate of Government at 4th floor, Room 4.20, Jubilee Insurance Center, Plot 14, Parliament Avenue, on the 23rd of October 2019 at 11:00am, and so from day to day until your attendance has been dispensed with, to give evidence in the said inquiry,” read a letter from the deputy IGG.
