Uganda’s ambassador to Burundi Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza has been cited in a case of trespass.
Matayo is accused by an engineering firm named Kayokamu Engineering Limited, for trespassing and taking over of its premises in Kawempe Division, Kampala.
The case was filed before the Land Division of the High Court in May.
Matayo is accused jointly with the registrar of titles and the Departed Asians Property Custodian Board.
The land in question is valued at 700M. Kayokamu accuses Matayo for trespassing onto the its land after the bush war in 1987.
Efforts to reclaim their property by the engineering firm through their lawyers were in vain.
Several times, according to court documents filed by the company, Kyaligonza refused to settle the issue amicably.
The company is seeking a court order to evict Gen Kyaligonza from the contested land and declare it vacant, to remove a caveat issued by the registrar of titles and order the accused to pay profits for the time they have been deprived of the land.
Matayo on the other hand denies the allegations.
