UNEB Turns Down Request to Set Special Exams for s.6 Students Who Missed

15 Senior Six students of Top Care SS in Iganga District who recently missed the first paper of UACE examination over unpaid fees will not sit for a special exam as compensation for the paper they missed.

The Tower Post has learnt that the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) held a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Education to discuss the plight of the students. Uneb turned down a request from the Ministry of Education to organize a special exam for the students. Uneb said they would not do so because it would set a bad precedent.

The meeting was attended by the Education Minister Janet Museveni, but her attendance did not shift Uneb’s resolve.

Uneb, however, said they might give the affected Senior 6 candidates special consideration after marking the remaining papers which they sat, according to a source.
