The Police bomb squad has Wednesday afternoon deployed and sealed off Mulago roundabout over fears of a gas cylinder explosion.

Kampala Metropolitan area police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says the 12kg gas cylinder that is located at a washing bay near Mulago roundabout, is about to explode.

Owoyesigire adds that police was called by a welder who owns the gas cylinder, who reported that the cylinder had started to swell when he started his work on Wednesday morning.

The Police Bomb squad however failed to diffuse the bomb and alternative efforts by the police fire brigade, who tired to pour water on the cylinder also did not yield any result.

By publication time, police was trying to did a hole where the cylinder can be buried so that it can explode from underground to reduce on the danger that could be caused.
