The Judicial Service Commission (JSC)has advertised the position of Chief Justice for potential candidates to apply as Chief Justice Bart Katureebe tenure nears an end.
Katureebe is set to retire on June 20th 2020 after clocking the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Applicants must be Ugandans, and they are required to have a Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized Institution and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre or from any other recognized institution within East African region.
According to the advertisement seen by the Towerpost, applicants should also have served as an advocate for not less than 20 years. The applicants should also have served in the Justice of Supreme Court of Uganda or a court having similar Jurisdiction, among other things.
Applicants will also have to attach at least four samples of judgements both civil and criminal that they have written or any legal publication or writing.
Successful candidates will be shortlisted then later they will be interviewed. The commission will do background checks and then forward the names to the President to choose.
