Hon Jackson Kafuuzi who was recently appointed as the Deputy Attorney General will on Tuesday be sworn-in at State House.
“This is to inform you that His Excellency the President is scheduled to swear-in Hon Kafuuzi Jackson as Deputy Attorney General on February 11, 2020, at 1 pm at State House,” reads a letter from Principal Private Secretary Kenneth Omona.
Kafuuzi was among 9 new ministers who were appointed by the President in a recent cabinet reshuffle, but his approval was delayed by the Parliamentary Appointment Committee citing loopholes in his academic credentials.
Speaker of Parliament Rebbecca Kadaga approved his appointment in January after he (Kafuuzi) appeared before the committee with his academic documents, filling the gaps that were earlier missing.
Kafuuzin holds a Bachelors of Laws Degree from Makerere University and a Diploma in legal practise from the Law Development Centre. He has been a practising lawyer for the last thirteen years, which qualifies him for the job. For a person to hold the position of Attorney General, they must have practised as an advocate of the High Court for at least seven years.
