Three Ugandan businessmen have been arrested in Uganda. This comes at the back of a meeting between President Museveni and his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame at Katuna border. The meeting was aimed at resolving the conflict between Uganda and Rwanda, and top among the root causes of the conflict is ‘unlawfully arrests and detention’ of citizens on both parts.
Ugandans that were arrested include; Bosco Nkwasiibwe, a resident of Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga District, Dauliano Orikurungi from Kabale District and Siliaco Orishaba from Rubanda District.
The victims were arrested by Rwandan security operatives on Thursday morning. They had reportedly gone to visit their relatives only to be arrested in Kawmwezi while crossing back into Uganda Uganda from Nyagatare District in Rwanda.
According to information, they are currently detained at Nyagatare District headquarters, we shall follow up on the matter,” he said.
Pesident Museveni and Kagame on Friday signed an extradition treaty for prisoners and agreed to release suspects being held in each country.
