Ugandan National Tests Positive for Coronavirus in Rwanda

A Ugandan national has tested positive of coronavirus in Rwanda, according to reports. In a statement, the Health Ministry in Rwanda announced that the Ugandan arrived in Rwanda from London on March 15, 2020.

This brought Rwanda’s total confirmed cases to five having confirmed their index case on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Other registered cases included a 34-year-old Rwandan man who arrived from South Sudan on 6 March 2020, His brother, a 36-year-old Rwandan who arrived from Fiji via USA and Qatar on 8 March 2020 and a 30-year-old Rwandan man in Kigali with no recent travel history.

All patients according to Rwanda are receiving treatment in isolation.

On Saturday, Rwanda announced that it had suspended all religious activities and public gatherings. Employees were also advised to work from home.

Rwanda became the second East African country to confirm a case after Kenya.

Although Uganda has not registered any case yet, experts warn that it will be hard for Uganda to survive.
