MPs Forcefully Tested for Coronavirus

Legislators that travelled to Dubai in the past days have been ambushed at their homes by medical officers together with the police to be tested for coronavirus.

The ambush comes days after the speaker of parliament of Uganda Rt. Hon. Alitwala Kadaga ordered 3 legislators and 2 staff members to stay away from the green benches of parliament until they tested for coronavirus. The speaker appointed a committee to work together with the ministry of health in the struggle to contain the coronavirus.

The committee that was formed ordered that Members of Parliament that returned from Dubai submit themselves to the testing centre in Entebbe before they can be publicly shamed. The members include; Hon. Ssekitoleko Kafeero member of parliament Nakifuma Constituency , Hon. Cissy Namujju Lwengo Mp and Hon. Ssempala Kigozi member of parliament for Makindye Ssabagabo.

Samples of these members have been tested forcefully and shall be released as soon as possible.

Despite the fact that Dubai had not been listed as a high-risk country, 11 of the 14 coronavirus cases in Uganda have been from Dubai.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Dr Ruth Acheng has announced that of the 104 samples tested on Wednesday, none is positive.
