On Sunday, the Ministry of Health released four Covid-19 patients after they tested negative more than once. There has, however, been fear that these people could be a threat to the public, and this feeling is fueled by reports that some people who recovered from the virus in China were reported to be testing positive again.
Dr Julius Lutwama has allayed fears that cured patients pose a threat saying that: “When we release somebody, it means the person does not have the virus so that person cannot transmit. If someone has recovered, they are cured. There is no virus in their body system,” Dr Julius said.
The doctor also added that surviving coronavirus was for the immunologically fit as the drugs being given do not kill the virus.
“It is your body that fights and cures you, that there is no drug that kills coronavirus doesn’t mean a person cannot be cured. The body itself fights with assistance of different medications that are given,” Dr Julius added.
The Ministry of Health is expected to release more cured patients today.
