Police Speaks Out on Samson Kasumba’s Arrest

Police has Tuesday afternoon confirmed the arrest of NBS TV news anchor Samson Kasumba who was picked up on Monday night.

This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Fred Enanga while addressing a group of journalists.

While many commentators on various social media platforms have alleged that his arrest was due to his work as a journalist, Police says that the investigations are in no way connected to his career as a journalist.

Enanga said that the news anchor was arrested for alleged involvement in subversive activities.

“He is a subject of investigation and it is not connected in any way to journalistic work but he is being investigated together with others for alleged subversive activities,” Enanga said.

“Detectives from the electoral and political offences department have interrogated him this morning and we are going together with him to conduct search in various places of interest.”

“He is in good state and he is collaborating with authorities.”

By publication time, Police had escorted Kasumba to his home for a search.
