Before the outbreak of coronavirus, it was okay for one to move from place to place without wearing a face mask. Today, not wearing a face mask could lead you in a 14 days quarantine.
The ministry of health has released statutory instruments that make it criminal not to wear a face mask in public places.
According to the ministry of health, those found without a face mask in public will be quarantined for two weeks.
The instrument was gazetted yesterday and signed by the minister of health Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng.
In the same spirit, the speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Alitwala Kadaga has directed the minister for justice and constitutional affairs, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu to appear before the August house and explain whether it should be criminal for Ugandans not to wear face masks in public.
The President said recently that wearing masks will be a great weapon in fighting coronavirus.
