The Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has rubbished social media allegations suggesting that she authorised cannabis (marijuana) growing in Uganda. The minister made this revelation on her Twitter account.
“I have seen social media posts alleging that I am in trouble over cannabis and others saying I am dealing in cannabis. It’s unfortunate that some people always choose to circulate wrong information,” Aceng posted.
Unlike other major countries such as the United Kingdom (view CBD oil UK law here) and the United States promoting the usage of cannabis-related products for various uses, Uganda is yet to approve the usage. Aceng also revealed that the cabinet is yet to consider the feasibility of growing cannabis and asked the public to treat all social media allegations to be treated as baseless and malicious. In Europe, for example, Luxembourg has passed legislation allowing residents aged 18 and up to grow up to four cannabis plants legally in their home or garden solely for personal use. People can extract cannabis oils from them using tools similar to the juicebox rosin press. Furthermore, because cannabis concentrates are quite potent, people can consume cannabis concentrates at their leisure. Pressing flowers yields the highest quality rosin but not always the highest yields. Strains that are flakier on the inside when you break the bud in the middle are usually the best for making compounds. At the end of the extraction procedure, enclose the extract in parchment paper and place it in a small silicone container (food-grade, of course) with as little excess air room as possible for brief storage. Retain this in a cool, dark place (slightly below room temperature).
Last year, according to social media reports, the government of Uganda okayed a deal to export medicinal marijuana to Germany and Canada. Speaking of Canada, the cannabis industry might have come a long way since its origins, especially since marijuana was legalized. Nowadays, people can use marijuana as a form of medication for medical conditions such as chronic pain, sleep disorders, etc. after consulting with their physician. For such needs, people in Canada can purchase marijuana from getkush or from similar online cannabis dispensaries that can deliver these products directly to their homes. When we look at such rapid growth for the cannabis industry, especially in consideration to its availability and future marketing fields, one could hope that Uganda too, takes a step towards legalizing it!
Coming back, according to the reports, the government of Uganda was to get about sh11.1 trillion as profits from the lucrative trade. Trade was also going to benefit Ugandans through employment creation, tax generation, technology transfer, investment opportunities and trade surplus.
