Traders in Kampala today (Tuesday) decided to open their shops situated on arcades after a call by KACITA that they should open.
KACITA rallied traders on Monday to leave their homes and return to work saying, “Enough is Enough”
Arcades have been closed for four months.
Police deployed heavily in down town Kampala to prevent traders from forcefully reopening arcades.
There were running battles between police and the traders who insisted they needed to work.
Officers were pelted with stones and other projectiles by the angry traders.
The traders under the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) say they will follow all Standard Operating Procedures once they are allowed to operate again.
