Tecno mobile recently launched their flagship device in the Camon Series, the Tecno Camon 15 which takes over from the Camon 12 that was launched last year.
The device was launched in partnership with telecommunications company MTN Uganda with every first user of the device getting free 3GB data per month for three months.
I recently received a review unit and for the next 10 days, I will be using the device to understand its pros and cons so as to be able to break down the new functions and give a verdict whether it’s worth an upgrade from the Camon 12.
Before the review, I have performed a quick unboxing and in this article, I talk about my first impressions of the TECNO Camon 15.
The device comes in a classy blue box with a security seal at the bottom. Please do not accept the device in the event that the seal is broken.
When you open the box, you are greeted by the device, front side up covered with a sticker.
Below the device you have an envelope that houses the sim ejection tool, a 13 month warranty card, a clear TPU case, a screen guard and a user manual.
In the bottom compartment we have a standard 10-watt charger, a micro USB cable (I didn’t expect this for sure), and a pair of ear phones with a jack plug.
The TECNO Camon 15 pretty much takes it’s design from the Camon 12 from last year but the 15 comes with a couple of improvements including the punchole front facing camera.
To the right of the device are volume rocker buttons and the power button. The left side houses a dual sim card tray and a dedicated micro SD card slot.
Down at the bottom is the speaker grill, a micro USB 2.0 port, a mouth piece opening and a 3.5mm jack port for wide audio connection.
The front side houses a 6.6 inch full HD Plus LCD Display with a 19.5 by 9 aspect ratio.
The punchhole notch on the top-left side of the screen houses a 16MP selfie camera. You also have a single LED flash that keeps lighting when the phone is charging.
Flipping it to the back side, you have a quad camera setup, a quad LED flash and also a circular biometric (fingerprint) sensor on the rear side and some TECNO branding.
I got one in fascinating purple color but the device is also available in Shoal Gold and Jade.
Basically, the design of the Camon 15 is simple but ecstatic. It feels light to hold and it’s body gives the user a firm grip.
I will be digging deep into the full specifications of the device and it’s performance in my next article but from my first impressions, I can confirm that you will like the device if you are into big screens and the talk of being classy, the design will leave you amazed.
