Gov’t to Decide On Re-Opening Of schools Before September

President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that the government will make a big decision on re-opening of schools before the month of September. The President made this revelation while addressing the nation on the status of Covid-19 in the country on July 21 at Nakasero State House.

“We are going to have to make a big decision for the schools before September, either to open some schools or to declare a dead year or whatever. Let us first continue with distance learning and wait and see.” Museveni said.

On whether 2020 will be declared a dead academic year, President Museveni revealed that it was too early to make such a decision. The President stated that the scientists might get a vaccine anytime and the students go back to school.

Following the outbreak of coronavirus in Uganda, the president halted all Learning activities in March. Efforts to have schools re-opened have since been futile.
