Police has warned the public against attending any Valentines Day parties saying that whoever dares to will be arrested.
The warning was given by the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango in message posted on his Twitter timeline on Wednesday afternoon.
“We have read, listened and seen several advertisements both online and in traditional media advertising parties in different places like hotels, beaches and other open arenas to celebrate valentine’s day on February 14, 2021,” Onyango wrote.
“We appeal to members of the public to report to us any party or event that breaches the Coronavirus regulations. We also warn any person that will attend such events that they will be arrested for breaching the laws,” he added.
As Valentines Day draws closer, several parties have been advertised despite the presidential ban on such events due to Covid19.
Whether or not events organisers will heed Police warning or will proceed with the parties remains to be seen.
