Government through the Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a telephone contact through which citizens can report scammers and recruiters under Alliance in Motion – AIM Global.
This was revealed by Agnes Igoye the Deputy Chairperson of the National Prevention of Trafficking in Persons office during a security press briefing on Monday morning.
Igoye revealed that the Ministry learnt about the company and how they have been preying on desperate Ugandans most of whom have been victimized and have lost the little they had.
“I want to address issues to do with Alliance in Motion Global. I met victims from Gulu who had been lied to that they’d be given jobs,” she said.
“Before getting the jobs, they were asked to pay money and recruit others. After paying money, they were given hampers to sell. You can imagine, you are being promised a job but you’re the one paying.”
This website understands that AIM Global is a Direct Selling Company with a network of distributors across the globe.
In Uganda however, the individuals who join their distributors are required to pay a certain amount of money to purchase the products which they will then sell and recover the money.
On top of selling the products which are in most cases food supplements, the distributors are required to recruit more members into the company for them to be able to earn a commission from the recruitment fee that they will pay.
“If anyone is affected by the actions of Alliance in Motion Global, call or WhatsApp 0711374160 to be immediately helped,” Igoye said.
