Kansai Plascon, Uganda’s biggest paint company has donated supplies worth 50 million shillings to the Entebbe Grade B Hospital as the company continues to spread cheer in communities and celebrate its customers.
The donation which is part of the recently concluded ‘Paint and Win’ Colours of Celebration promotion was handed over by the Plascon Managing Director, Mr. Santosh Gumte at the hospital premises in Entebbe, Wakiso District.
Every year, Plascon runs the ‘Paint and Win’ promotion which serves as a platform for the brand to strengthen relations and reward its dealers, customers, and painters with various prizes for their loyalty and continuous support.
Also as part of the promotion, the company carries out a number of CSR activities.
Mr. Santosh Gumte, Managing Director Plascon Uganda said, “For our 10th Edition of Paint and Win, we chose to celebrate you – the people who have kept us going. Your love for Plascon has led us to numerous successes and we want to say thank you. Entebbe Grade One Hospital was the first hospital to handle cases of Covid-19 and continues to take lead in the fight against the pandemic. We hope our contribution will be a good addition to the already existing equipment and a pat on the back for the brave health workers who wake up every day, risk everything to give hope to our communities.”
“We have repainted the wards and donated materials over to the hospital worth 50,000,000/= (fifty million shillings) to help protect the hospital workers as they execute their duties. These items include Mattresses, gloves, face masks, buckets, basins, JIK, disinfectant liquid and sanitizer for the hospital,” said Daniel Kayongo the Brand Manager Plascon Uganda.
“We also are providing paint worth 25,000,000/= (twenty-five million Shillings) and the labour to give the hospital a fresh coat of paint. Finally, we want to extend a special thank you to all the 150 staff members of the hospital with a personal hamper for each of them. The hamper includes rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil, baking flour, spaghetti, and a drink. This is a small thank you to them and their families for the incredible work they do to serve Uganda.”
Dr. Muwanga, of the Entebbe Hospital said, “The faith you have shown our hospital is greatly appreciated. On behalf of everyone at Entebbe Grade One Referral Hospital I extend my sincere gratitude towards you for your generous and thoughtful donation. I would like to let you know that we are deeply grateful to Plascon Uganda for helping us improve on the hospital.”
Over the past 10 years, several establishments including schools, churches, mosques, orphanage homes, and community-based organizations have benefitted from the Paint and Win CSR where they have received donations in form of paint, makeovers among others.
Some of the organizations that have previously benefited include Sanyu Babies Home, Dwelling Places, Kigezi High School, Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, All Saints Church Mbarara, Wakiso Masqid, among others.
Entebbe Grade One Hospital is a public hospital funded by the Uganda Ministry of Health. Originally built by the British colonialists in the 20th century as Entebbe Grade B Hospital, the facility was expanded to 200 beds capacity between 2013 and 2016.
It offers a range of services including pediatrics, radiology, laboratory, maternity, immunization, general surgery, internal medicine, orthopedics and operating rooms.
Patients served by the hospital come from Wakiso District, Mpigi District, Entebbe Town, and the neighboring islands in Lake Victoria.
