The State House Health Monitoring Unit has arrested Dr Byaruhanga Baterana the Executive Director for Mulago National Referral Hospital.

Dr Baterana was picked up on Tuesday morning from hospital premises.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Dr Warren Namara headed unit is investigating poor management of the national referral hospital.

Further reports indicate that Baterana is being questioned about drug procurement process, human resource management, among others.

President Yoweri Museveni constituted the Health Monitoring Unit in 2009 following repeated complaints about misuse of government drugs in public hospitals and a number of other issues in health service delivery.
