SC Villa has Tuesday morning unveiled Dusan Stojanovic as the club’s new head coach. The Serbian coach has promised nothing but hard work.
Stojanovic has been unveiled at SC Villa offices in Industrial Area in Kampala.
He has been handed a two-year contract, replacing Jackson Magera who was surprisingly let go on the back of a promising season.
He will be working with former KCCA FC coach Morley Byekwaso who has been given a three-year contract and will handle the Junior teams as well.
Isaac Mwesigwa, recently at Express, has also been unveiled as the new CEO as earlier reported by this Website.
SC Villa Vice President Daniel Bakaki said that the changes are part of the “ongoing restructuring ongoing at the club.”
“Last season was terrible because of the way it ended, but it gave us something to learn,” Bakaki said.
“We are not renewing contracts of the previous Technical team, not that they performed poorly but we need progress.
“We have appointed Serbian Stojanovic. We looked at him and we realised that he has experience on African football. We welcome him at Villa and we expect a lot from him.”
“For Morley, we welcome him back home. He is our Assistant Coach and will also coach the Junior team. We want to put more emphasis on the Junior team because it from there where we will feed the senior team.”
“For Mwesigwa, he replaces William Nkemba as our new CEO. We are looking at activeness. He is experienced and we also expect a lot of progress.”
Bakaki pledged support from the Villa Management to both the Technical team and the Executive.
“What has always failed most clubs is interference from above. We will let the Coaches take their decisions, give them support and enough time.”
The new gaffer has worked with Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic at Zamalek and Zambia.
“I want to thank everyone who made my arrival possible,” started the Serbian.
“I know Villa, they have long glory and tradition and their fans are thirsty for new success.”
“We know that weight of our jersey and badge, and we need to figure how to handle the pressure.
“The past coaches did a good job but were unlucky in the last job. We need to upgrade and recognise that and we want to keep the ongoing process up. I have an obligation to continue on that path which brought a lot of joy to the villa family.
“I can promise just hard work, and the time I have been around will judge.
“I hope we will have more reasons to be happy then. I am not a person who wants to talk a lot but I think that our work will talk for us.”
Asked about his style of play, the Serbian commented: “My style of play, Villa, need to be based on the field to play and score a lot of goals through possession. It should base on the type of players I have, then I can make a game plan accordingly. If I have a two full-backs who can attack, then I can tell one not to go up the pitch.”
On how Micho influenced his move, he said: “Yes, he has influenced me joining my past jobs as well, we are good friends and we are from the same country as well.”
